Special Education Services

Welcome to the Clinton Community Schools Special Education web page. We hope that you find the information helpful and easy to access. Our goal is to increase information to our families and community that covers the basic information regarding the special education system from the referral process to service provision.

The Individual with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA) is a federal law which guarantees children and youth with disabilities a Free Appropriate Public Education (FAPE) in the Least Restrictive Environment (LRE). The law recognizes that every individual is unique, and that, while everyone can learn, the ability to learn and the rate at which each individual learns varies from one person to another.

Special education programs and services are operated and administered in the local school buildings in collaboration with the Lenawee Intermediate School District. We provide a continuum of special education programs and services for school-age students with disabilities.

All Public Schools in Lenawee County determine the existence of a Specific Learning Disability using a Pattern of Strengths and Weaknesses.  For a copy of the Standards and Procedures for Identification of Students with Suspected Specific Learning Disabilities visit:

We recognize that student success is only achieved when a strong positive relationship is built between the school district and families. The focus of Clinton Community Schools is to ensure ALL students with Individual Education Plans (IEP) have access to the general curriculum while being provided with structured comprehensive support systems. We are committed to providing the best services to students and collaborating with families to ensure students are able to meet their full potential.

If you have questions that pertain to a specific service or are interested in exploring if your child is eligible for a service, please contact the Director of Special Education and Student Services.

Thank you for your continued support.
